To provide the hospital with an additional source of Registered Nurses for use by all patient care areas within Barnes-Jewish Hospital. To provide staffing support that accommodates changes in patient census and acuity. To augment staffing needs during unscheduled ETO when other staffing options are not available. To assist in the cost effective utilization of nursing personnel to promote the delivery of quality patient care.

Role Purpose
Supports the Clinical Manager in the delivery of safe, appropriate, age specific, cost effective patient care, as well as oversees the activities of the House Supervisors. Manages the coordination of patient placement and bed management in collaboration with emergency department, admitting, and physicians. Oversees the direction of the allocation of staffing activities, within the patient care areas, and works with the House Supervisors to handle unusual circumstances, to appropriate resources and to investigate/resolve clinical problems/complaints.
Responsibilities
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Directs operations of House Supervisor services within the organization and integrates services throughout the organization and system.
Manages House Supervisors as they assist with patient care operations and integration of services between departments.
Oversees the direction given by House Supervisors as they supervise the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by a solid clinical and management knowledge base.
Builds effective services through hiring, supervising and evaluating House Supervisor staff.
