Position Summary:
Accountable for all registration functions within the hospital - pre-admissions, in-patient, observation, out-patient, and emergency patient types. Responsible for accurate data entry and compliance with hospital policy and procedures as related to each patienttype. Responsibilities include accurate and timely discharges and transfers. Responsible for correct ADT information in the Order Entry system. Accountable for occurrence, insurance and identification of patients and the completion of required insurance forms,specifically Medicare and Medicaid. Billing documents will be produced at the registration station for outpatient and emergency room patients. Co-payments, patient portions and self-pay accounts will be collected at the point of service. In the registrationarea located next to ER, the representatives on duty are responsible for responding to alarms. Assists as needed in the QA process. Manage workload and perform in a service excellence manner to best represent the facility and department. This position alsoperforms other duties as assigned and as deemed necessary by the department director in order to achieve success of the department and facility.
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards
1-3 years related experience preferred
Ability to type 45wpm
Excellent Customer Service skills
Computer Literate
Independent Worker
Dependable
Preferred prior experience in a hospital or medical office
Preferred knowledge of medical terminology
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
High school or GED
