Responsible for accurate coding of outpatient records. Codes referred outpatient, ERs and ASU records using ICD 10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes. Assists with abstracting when needed.
Education:

- Minimum - High School or Equivalent.
Preferred - Associate`s Degree in Medical Records Technology, Nursing, or other related field.
Experience:
-
- Required - 2 or more years working in a Medical Records Department, Physician`s Office, or similar health care experience.
Training/License:
-
- Required - Medical Terminology and Coding courses. Preferred - Advanced Medical Terminology and Anatomy/Physiology. Knowledge of automated coding/abstracting systems.
Licensure: Preferred - Clinical Coding Specialist (C.C.S.), Registered Health Information Technologist (R.H.I.T.), Registered Health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.) or Certified Professional Coder (C.P.C.).
Other:

- Required - Working knowledge of computer systems especially PCs and networked environments. Ability to interact with all levels of hospital personnel especially the medical staff. Basic administrative skills (filing, data entry, answering telephone).
Preferred - Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
