This position, located at the NJ War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC), Airborne Hazards and Burn Pits Center of Excellence (AHBPCE) in East Orange, New Jersey, works as a research scientist for large, grant-funded research projects designed to understand and improve post-deployment health. The mission is to provide expertise in the health outcomes of deployment and military exposure through research, education, and clinical services. Education Requirement: You must possess a bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this a Health Science Specialist - Research. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. ~ AND ~ In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position at the GS-13 level you must have: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience, equivalent to at the least the next lower grade level (GS-12), that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Health Science Specialist - Research. Specialized experience is experience where you were responsible for conducting analytical studies, statistical methods, and interpretation of results to coordinate the evaluation of programs and research projects; providing problem-solving assistance to scientific investigators and technical staff in the area of health science research; analyzing, evaluating, and providing consultation regarding clinical research programs; utilizing strong written and oral communication skills to respond to inquiries, prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals; maintaining the safe operation of a laboratory; and providing scientific advice, consultation, and leadership in designing new research projects and coordinating ongoing research projects.
