Job Summary:
The Principal Gifts Officer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and leading a major giving program focused on individual donors at the $25,000+ level and will include a focus on the WMCHealth Network's major strategic priorities, gift planning, and a clinician engagement program through which clinicians, administrators, volunteers, and others are engaged in building a pipeline of grateful patients and other key stakeholders to assist in driving revenue and creating a culture of gratitude throughout the WMCHealth Network.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the implementation and execution of the development department's fundraising plan with a specific focus on major gifts through financial and activity metrics
- Identifies and prioritizes individual donors from existing database, patients, and the community-at-large and other constituencies in concert with fund development team
- Develops and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual donors and prospects with a strong focus on prospective donors of $25,000 or greater
- Builds relationships with donors and engages appropriate WMCHealth partners to assist in the cultivation and solicitation of gifts as appropriate
- Seeks opportunities through engagement of philanthropists and other individuals to secure planned gifts in support of WMCHealth' s programs and services
- Manages and stewards portfolio of donors ensuring regular contact including personalized invitations to events and informational network updates
- Creates innovative strategies and implements plans in conjunction with the SVP to ensure that individual giving goals are met or exceeded and that a continuum of donor engagement and recruitment, as well as continuous pipeline development, occurs
- Establishes, builds and maintains strong personal relationships with high-net worth individuals through networking with WMCHealth physicians, board members, grateful patients and the community at large
- Develops and actualizes highly customized solicitation strategies for potential donors bonding the strategic objectives and priorities of WMCHealth and a donor's interests
- Maximizes hospital special events as opportunities for donor cultivation and stewardship including assisting with recruitment of event committee members
- Coordinates identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospective planned giving donors
- Develops relationships with local financial planning and estate associations to create opportunities that promote and maximize WMCHealth's position as a charity of choice for endowments, life insurance policies, bequests and life income arrangement
- Remains current in fundraising techniques by attending philanthropy meetings and conferences that provide advanced training opportunities
- As required, assists with staffing a variety of volunteer leadership groups in conjunction with development department colleagues
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
Five to seven years of experience in a development/fundraising position. Experience working in a healthcare philanthropy a plus
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
