AMBULATORY PEDIATRIC PHYSICIAN
San Francisco Bay Area
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Clinics, a safety net hospital and clinic system for Contra Costa County, currently has a full-time opportunity for a general pediatrician to work in an ambulatory setting in East County. We have a central hospital in Martinez and have outpatient clinic locations in 7 different parts of the county from Brentwood in the far east to San Pablo in the west with several sites in between. Contra Costa is a diverse community that addresses the needs of all people who enter our system of care. We accept everyone without barriers based on their ability to pay, etc. We are also integrated with our public health department to help provide care and support to our most vulnerable patients.
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has a free-standing family medicine training program and there is a strong family medicine presence in both hospital and ambulatory care. The Pediatric Department is an independent department in the medical staff structure with 31 pediatricians and a mix of family physicians and nurse practitioners rounding out the group of 37. The group is divided with about 2/3 working solely in the ambulatory setting and 1/3 working as hospitalists covering a busy level 1 and level 2 nursery 24/7 as well as doing ED consults.
The ambulatory providers practice full spectrum general pediatrics with each individual assigned with a panel at one of the clinic sites. A few providers are specialized in the areas of child development or child abuse pediatrics. We have a well-integrated system of care with a very dedicated group of providers. We have lab and x-ray capabilities, but the majority of specialty care is provided by a referral system to either UCSF or Stanford. Both have local clinics in our county as well as tertiary hospitals to meet the needs of our patients.
The position will include a minimum of 7 primary care clinics per week with the opportunity to do additional clinics in areas such as newborn follow up or urgent care/short notice. Each clinic is a half day block. The schedule will include one clinic in either the evening or a Saturday. The routine clinic roster includes a mix of telehealth and in person visits with the majority being in person. We strive to provide access to our patients at extended hours of the day and by telehealth in order to best meet their needs.
We offer a full benefit package with retirement, health care, dental care, etc. and there are opportunities to participate in medical staff activities such as committees, quality improvement and resident education depending on interest and experience.
We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and welcome all people who are interested in learning more about this opportunity.
