JOB SUMMARY:
The Center for Precision Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking an Application Developer with full stack experience. As a part of a National Institutes of Health funded group, this individual will join a team dedicated to providing quality tools and data to support cutting edge biomedical research. The systems we are developing will improve the FAIRness of research data- Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reproducibility. The cloud migration of these resources presents an incredible opportunity to power research to improve our understanding of human health.
The day to day activities of the individual who fills this position will be focused on developing tools in a cloud-based environment as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. These tools will leverage RESTful APIs to drive user interfaces that display mainly health-related data in meaningful ways to researchers and allow users to share knowledge back with the system and other users.
This role will be working with the HL7 FHIR specification for health data in a local and cloud context. No experience with FHIR or health data is required, but an interest in working with standards and health data is important.

The Research and Service Mission is to develop and evaluate innovative technologies for the storage, retrieval, dissemination, and application of biomedical knowledge, in order to support clinical practice, biomedical research, life-long learning, and administration and as a result, to contribute to the professional body of knowledge in the field of biomedical informatics. The Professional and Ethical Mission is to maintain cooperation and collegiality with all those who learn and work with us locally, nationally, and internationally; and, to develop and disseminate ethical and professional standards for the conduct of biomedical informatics research and for the use and evaluation of health care informatics applications.
