The Service Line Director, Perinatal is responsible for advancing ACH as the leader in the delivery of integrated care across the identified service line continuum, which includes patient care operations and provider administrative management of perinatal departments. This role functions to support the delivery of quality care and achievement of a regionally and nationally recognized comprehensive perinatal program. This position will develop and translate strategy into action for service line programming that covers the entire continuum of care (community services, outpatient diagnostics and treatment, inpatient care, tertiary and quaternary level services) across complex horizontal and vertical integration of the health system. The position will focus on access, care design and standardization and patient experience across the care continuum and is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with regional health system partners. This position will work in a highly matrixed structure across a complex health system for the overall administration, operation, business development and financial management of the service line to create alignment. Oversight includes strategic/business planning, partnerships with regional health systems, practice recruitment and development, clinical outpatient and inpatient operations, resource deployment, human resource management, positive financial performance, and compliance oversight.
In collaboration with service line clinical leadership, develops strategic priorities for the service line aligned with the organization strategy based on market analysis, advancing clinical research and technology and changes in external competitive environment.
Develops and oversees strategic business planning functions including financial pro forma development for new business opportunities and preparing, and managing , department budgets.  Identifies and driving opportunities to enhance financial stewardship and  maintain or reduce expenditures across the service line.
Develops strong relationships, and partners with the service line physician leaders and department chair. Works well with multiple partners across collaborative services, regional referral sources, organizational partners, and system leadership on organizational initiatives and service line goals.
Directs and implements strategic initiatives, new site development, and outreach services for the perinatal service line.
Develops and translates strategy into action across a complex, horizontally, and vertically integrated health system
Builds strong operational processes, with the goal to achieve excellence in access, care design and standardization and patient experience, quality, and safety in the Service
Drives quality and process improvement and promotes a culture of the quality and value by supporting the deployment of Lean Six Sigma and quality improvement tools throughout the service lines.
Represents the service line internally and externally at local, regional, national professional meetings and forums.
Leads and participates on committees and advisory boards within Akron Children's Hospital and the community.
Adds value as a key member of management understands service line strategy, business, financials, industry, customers.
Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains, and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.
Other duties as required.
Experience in leading within a large organization or business unit is required. Perinatal experience is preferred.
Ability to build multidisciplinary programs and a record of accomplishment of progressive leadership. Ideally, the candidate will have hospital leadership experience in an organization with a reputation for successful Perinatal Service Line programming that covers the entire continuum of care.
Experience with practice management, business plan development and implementation, financial management & analysis, performance and quality improvement strategies, and project management is preferred.
Experience in patient care operations, clinical programs and healthcare management is required.
Experience with physician relations is required. A record of demonstrable success working collaboratively and through influence within a highly matrixed reporting structure in a complex healthcare system.
Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
Education: BSN is required. Master's degree is required in healthcare leadership (MBA or MHA), Master's degree in both nursing and healthcare leadership (MBA or MHA) is preferred.
License to practice professional nursing in the state of Ohio is required.
Certification: Fellow in American College of Health Care Executives and/or board certification as a Nurse Executive-Advanced is preferred
Years of relevant experience: 7 years is preferred.
Years of experience supervising: 5 years is preferred.
