English Language Proficiency: DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) , and 7407(d). CERTIFICATION: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). EDUCATION: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). GS-10 GRADE REQUIRMENTS: Experience: Must have at least 1 year of progressive experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) which demonstrates the clinical competencies directly related to the position? Employees at this level function as a supervisor for a group of DRTs which may include support staff. Evaluates new products and equipment, making recommendations to supervisor concerning upgrades/new purchases that would improve operations. Informs higher level management of anticipated staffing variances and informally recommends promotions, reassignments, or other personnel changes such as retention or release of probationary employees, and recommending recognition of superior performance in the diagnostic radiologic area. Directs the development and implementation of services and treatment to patients through the supervision, mentoring, and oversight of assigned clinical staff. Experience must demonstrate practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. GS-10 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition, you must demonstrate the following technical KSAs: 1. *Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation. 2. As PM Supervisory Radiologic Technologist, the incumbent has full responsibility for planning, developing, and directing the PM/Evening operations of Radiology Services. This involves performing radiological studies and advanced modality exams for the inpatient and outpatient clinics, emergency department, operating rooms, and ICU areas throughout the medical center and offsite locations. Incumbent supports the Radiology Supervisor (Chief Technologist), who provides the direct supervision of the position. - Directs the technical services, patient care aspects and related programs that support the facility.\n- Plans and coordinates work to be accomplished by sub-areas during the evenings.\n- Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments.\n- Oversees the planning, developing and directing of radiologic studies.\n- Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both clinical and administrative matters.\n- Coordinates the integration of the Radiology Department functions with other aspects of overall patient care.\n- Participates in quality performance/improvement activities.\n- Participates in the compilation and analysis of data on departmental activities and prepares related reports to the Radiology Supervisor.\n- Provides backup coverage for all Radiology Administrator and Radiology Supervisor duties and is the Approving Official for credit card purchases during the PM/evening tours.\n- Serves on hospital committees as assigned.\n- Performs other related duties as assigned.
