Role Purpose
The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) I performs processing and routine testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Demonstrates good laboratory practices.
Responsibilities
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
- Reports results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.
- BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Sciences or related field
- <2 years experience
Preferred Qualifications- 5 or more years of experience
