OverviewBarnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.
Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.
Role Purpose
Promotes the professional development of nursing staff in collaboration with the Administrative team. Provides clinical and management direction to clinical educators. Evaluates professional practice systems (standards, policies, procedures, documentation, staff orientation, education, training, and development competency systems) to enhance patient care delivery and comply with internal and external regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Collaborates with nursing management colleagues on hiring, supervising and evaluating department staff.
- Provides and develops educational programs in alignment with organizational goals and customer needs. Prioritizes educational needs of patient care staff based on needs assessments, organizational goals and budgetary allowances.
- Manages a quality improvement process to support exceptional clinical outcomes.
- Oversees implementation of clinical information systems for Nursing Services.
- Provides expert consultation regarding nursing sensitive indicators.
- BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- 5-10 years of experience
- < 2 years of supervisory experience
- Registered Nurse (RN)
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Requirements
- 10+ years of experience
- Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certification
