As part of the Fairview Home Medical Equipment (FHME) team, the Patient Service Coordinator / DME CSS answers phones and assists our customers with making appointments, placing orders, verifying insurance, and general customer service duties. This position ensures: processes are in place to support an exceptional customer service environment,efficient and effective work within a team environment, and all customers have an excellent experience with FHME. Applicants should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and desire to work independently in a team environment. This position will have a home base in the Hibbing FV-Range office.
This is a benefit and PTO eligible position that is authorized for 80 hour per two week pay period. The schedule will be Monday-Friday, start time TBD.
Knowledge of applicable DME equipment and processes
Completes all order and entry functions
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
Produces efficient and accurate orders
Records and updates patient charts accurately, communicating changes to all involved staff
Seeks out solution to conflicts directly through parties involved and other available resources.
Adds pertinent information and documents into the patient record in Brightree
Navigate through patient medical records using EPIC
Arrange for interpreter services when appropriate
Completes insurance verification
Transfer of equipment/inventory
Answers and responds to telephones calls
Takes and leaves concise messages for patients; responds as requested
Completes clerical duties
Reviews and routes scans, faxes medical documents to necessary parties
Report professional development to supervisor
Meet weekly productivity measurements
Implements department procedures to maintain systems and records
Maintains databases, files and records on a regular basis according to established procedure
Cover different DME showroom locations in Metropolitan area as needed
Demonstrates strong communication skills
Strong knowledge and familiarity with the Fairview system
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to prioritize competing activities
Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree
1-3 years in a healthcare setting
Insurance and Billing experience
Previous DME experience
Medical terminology or Healthcare background
Knowledge of all current DME items carried and billing protocols
Ability to educate patients and answer questions regarding product information and use
Ability to align payer information and billing requirements to support patient needs
Ability to answer all questions regarding equipment and insurance coverage
Transfer inventory with precise accuracy between locations using computer software
Execute all claim processing for DME orders in an accurate and timely manner
Strong knowledge of insurance coverage and current insurance guidelines
Accurately bill all equipment for patients receiving their equipment from Fairview Home Medical Equipment, according to doctor orders and insurance guidelines
Strong working knowledge of billing systems/processes
Meet daily department productivity
Ability to follow detailed instructions according to insurance regulations and guidelines
Ability to form and keep good relationships with hospital staff ordering products
