This position is responsible for the accurate, complete and timely preparation of all federal, state and local tax returns and information returns, including Forms 1120, 990, 1041, and 5500 tax returns. This position is responsible for the tax compliance activities within the department and assisting the Tax Director in system-wide tax planning, research and compliance. This position monitors Tax Filing Deadlines and filing appropriate extensions as necessary, reviews, analyzes and responds to tax notices, and works with Tax Director on tax audits. This position interacts with several groups throughout the organization both within and outside of Corporate Finance.
Assists with the data gathering and review of income tax returns, extensions, estimates and tax provisions for Forms 990, 990-T, 1120, 1065 and other reporting requirements.
Interfaces with members of Finance throughout the system to ensure accurate reporting of information.
Understands the flow of information from business operations through the general ledger system and onto the income tax work papers.
Assists with the standardization of income tax process and the pursuit of increased efficiency within the process
Assists with data gathering from the Accounting and Accounts Payable teams and reviews returns
Participates in meetings with business units and product service lines to ensure that complete information is captured and reported on returns
Assists with process improvement plans to correct errors and increase efficiency in reporting
Ensures compliance regarding the filing of Form W-9 and ST-3.
Reviews payroll tax filings
Researches payroll tax issues and interfaces with Payroll to come to a timely resolution and facilitates corrections are made
Assists in ensuring that organizations are compliant with payroll tax laws and Fairview policies
Supports the review and filing of Form W-2s and W-2cs
Supports the timely and accurate filing of Minnesota Care Tax returns
Assists with Hospital Annual Reports and Hospital Surcharge filing
Participates in the process to report Unclaimed Property
Assists with Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA) and reporting
Supports the timely and accurate filing of Form 5500
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
Five years tax related experience. Experience with reviewing others work.
CPA, Enrolled Agent or Attorney
Masters degree in Taxation, or J.D. / LL.M.
Public Accounting and Non-profit Healthcare Industry Experience.
