Adventist Health Castle Kailua, Hawaii Registered Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonographer Full Time, Day Shift - Cardiology Qualified candidate will have the proper knowledge of and expertise to perform ultrasound sonographic duties for imaging adult cardiac, peripheral vascular, cerebrovascular, and abdominal vascular duplex studies. Able to create images for the purpose of assessing functions, diagnoses, and identifying the presence or absence of disease. Collaborates closely with cardiologists and radiologists, performing the technical aspects of examinations, evaluating findings and reporting them to physicians. Essential Functions: - Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for performing studies, including but not limited to; Adult echocardiograms, Stress/Contrast/Bubble Echocardiograms, assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms, EKGs or ECGs and Holter monitors, Cerebrovascular Duplex, Abdominal and Mesenteric Vascular Duplex, Renal Artery Duplex, Peripheral Arterial and Peripheral Venous Duplex, Bypass/Dialysis Grafts, and Vein Mapping. We are a dedicated echo and vascular department and workload will reflect both modalities.
- Utilizes critical thinking to assess the patient and clinical history regarding the test to be performed; consults supervisor and referring physician when necessary to determine appropriate exam. Analyzes test data; generates preliminary interpretation report; discusses exam needs, patient history and interpretation with cardiologists and radiologists when necessary.
- Provides patient care, which includes preparing patients for sonographic imaging and providing instructions. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains job knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned, including but not limited to; sonographic equipment operations and troubleshooting, inventory management, patient scheduling and other projects.
- Full Time Days, 10 hour shifts / 40 hours per week. Weekend rotations are required in this role.
- On-call rotation is required, with echo and vascular coverage. Assume on-call status and call back as assigned, responding within 30-45 minutes of receiving call.
Education: - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications: - Currently certified, or eligible to be certified, with a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and/or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: - Work experience in both echocardiography and vascular sonography.
