Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, fully staffed with pediatric emergency medicine specialists and nursing personnel. Our team of emergency physicians and nurses provide specialized care to patients from birth up to 21 years of age with varying levels of illness from minor to critical.A The Emergency Department is staffed with registered nurses, paramedics, technicians and health unit coordinators.A We see approx 70,000 patients a year, averaging 200 patients each day.A A PALS is required and can be obtained during your orientation period.A During your first year of employment you will receive ACLS, ENPC and TNCC.A A
BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Minimum Work Experience
Pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.

As a Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center, Children's Hospital offers full capabilities to care for seriously ill children in a unique pediatric environment and offers the services of many different pediatric subspecialties. Children's Hospital works jointly with the University of Tennessee Medical Center to ensure that injured children in this region receive trauma care at the institution most appropriate for the child's needs. We also assist smaller hospitals by providing pediatric health care training opportunities.
