Fairview Health Services is looking for an RN at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN on our Step Down ICU. The Step Down ICU is a 18 bed unit that is a progressive critical care unit serving a patient population 18 years and older with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability requiring frequent nursing assessment and intervention every 1 to 2 hours for the majority of the shift.

About This Unit:

• This patient population requires less care than the other ICUs at the University Hospital, but more care than a general medical surgical unit. The majority of patients require cardiac monitoring.
• Common patient populations include post transplant patients, patients admitted with respiratory failure, sepsis and cardiac complications, to name a few diagnoses.
• The nurse patient ratio is a mix of 1:2 and 1:3 on all shifts.

About This Position:

• This position works 72hours (0.9 FTE) , every two weeks on the night shift.
• 12 hour shifts, and works every third weekend
• This position is benefit eligible

The Registered Nurse position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices on a busy, fast-paced Intermediate Care Unit. The RN will assist physicians and staff in coordinating patient care.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

• MN RN License
• BLS required
• AD required

Preferred qualifications:

• BSN or higher preferred
• Certification in related specialty is highly desired
• One year of current medical/surgical with telemetry experience as an RN in a hospital setting is desired
• One year of Emergency Department, pediatric or adult critical care experience is preferred.
• Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred
