Position Summary: |

Provide spiritual support to patients, families and staff. Assist in the orientation, training, and professional development of department staff, community clergy, volunteer chaplains, and visiting Catholic Priest. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric and behavioral health groups. |

SPIRITUAL NEEDS - Provide in-house, off-site, and on-call spiritual need coverage to patients, families and hospital staff by responding to codes, death, and other emergencies SPIRITUAL NEEDS - Provide spiritual support to patients, families and hospital staff as requested; provide sacraments, worship services, and memorial services PASTORAL CARE - Assess and plan for Pastoral Care Program consistent with available resources and institution mission; assist in planning, organizing, scheduling, and conducting spiritual programs and services MINISTRY - Provide for specific needs of individual faiths by fostering an ecumenical/universal approach to hospital ministry; provide sacraments for patients as needed, i.e. Announting of the sick, Confessions, Holy Eucharist, etc. COLLABORATION - Collaborate with Hospital staff employees when working with patients to strengthen the care provided; assist in identifying and solving problems OVERSIGHT - Oversee use of chapel for spiritual purposes; act as liaison with local clergy; provide in-service and community educational needs of individual faiths by fostering ecumenical approach to hospital ministry DOCUMENTATION - Compile and complete documentation of patient care activities using the FICA Spiritual Assessment DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Masters of Divinity or equivalent

Ordination into Roman Catholic Priesthood
