Assists patients, families and staff in times of physical, emotional and spiritual distress. Responsible for ministry to the health needs of all patients. Forms community of pastoral care. Provides services and resources as requested by the patient or family.
Assists patients with spiritual and faith based needs during their hospital stay.
Provides guidance, recommendations and resources.
Ensures religious beliefs are being considered in plan of care.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited college or university. Graduate professional degree from an
accredited theological school. Four quarters of certified Clinical Pastoral Education through ACPE, Inc., or NACC.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological school. One year residency
from an accredited ACPE center
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pastoral and/or chaplaincy experience of two (2) years.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Clinical pastoral experience of two (2) years
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Eligible for APC or Cognate group endorsement. Ecclesiastical
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains or itï¿½s
affiliate cognate group. Ecclesiastical endorsement by faith group. Ordained by faith group.
