Greets and welcomes patients and visitors upon arrival. Schedules patient visits including coordination of the scheduling of multiple physician visits related to the delivery of specialty care. Obtains and updates patient insurance and demographic information. Ensures authorizations from third party payors are secured in conjunction with UMPhysicians referral management staff. Maintains high visibility and availability at entrance/exit. Is responsible for servicing patients and families until which time patient care staff can assume responsibility.

Properly manages medical record information when preparing and transferring charts.
Provides secretarial support including
Transcribes physician orders
Uses forms/documents required for patient care visits
Collaborates with other health team members, including physicians, residents, fellows, nursing and clerical staff, and other ancillary services, to provide quality care for patients and families.
Responds to patient questions in an appropriate manner.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize the multiple needs of specialty clinic patients to most effectively coordinate services and enhance patient convenience and satisfaction.
Operates the scheduling, registration, referral, billing, and record results reporting systems
Verifies and completes necessary information for registration, charge capture and referral management process
Demonstrates knowledge of contracted payors and obligations of primary or specialty clinic
Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
Communicates in a respective manner.
Ensures a safe, secure environment.
Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.

Vocational/Technical Training or Associate Degree
