Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Delivery Room Technician II.
In this role, the successful candidate Under the direct supervision of the staff nurse (RN) in the Operating Room of Labor and Delivery. Assists the RN with circulating duties as assigned. Obtains necessary data collection on patients as directed by the R.N. Functions well with other team members and shows initiative and judgment in anticipating needs of team members. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures, equipment, instruments and supplies used in the Delivery Room.
Exposure & handling of hazardous waste
Performs other duties as assigned.
Transports patients to and from Operating Room disposes of placenta as directed either to Pathology or in the refrigerator.
Assists RN in care of patients experiencing fetal loss.
Cleans and maintains supplies and equipment operating room, sub-sterilizing rooms and supporting rooms. Assists in maintenance of aseptic standards for a proper, safe, surgical environment.
Selects instruments for various surgical procedures, processing and inventory of instruments.
Assists with setting up operating room for various procedures scheduled providing instruments, linen and assembling equipment needed.
Assumes responsibility for sponge count, needle count and instrument count: care for specimen and prepares specimen record for doctor to complete.
Admits patient to OB TraceVue, maintains FM strip and storage.
Is alert to proper identification and the immediate condition of the patient.
Keeps the staff nurse informed or any problem that may arise.
Assists the staff nurse in creating and maintaining aseptic standards for a proper, safe surgical environment.
Scrubs and arranges sterile instruments on sterile table, assists with draping of patient and maintains sterile field throughout surgical procedure under supervision of registered nurse. Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes the correct sterile instrument, suture and sponges required during operative procedure without delay.
Assists RN with circulating duties as assigned.
Assists with surgical positioning of a patient.
Acts as a member of a surgical team and cooperates in giving direct patient care.
Assists with transfer of patient to and from surgical table and transports patient to post-operative area with anesthesiologist or nurse.
Assists in antepartum testing (assisting with NST's and amniocentesis).
Attaches patient to external fetal monitor as directed by RN.
Demonstrates the ability to involve family or significant other in decision making related to plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High School Graduate Graduate of an accredited OR Surgical Technician Training program CST required 1-3 years OR experience preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
