Fairview Health Services is looking for a CPC Instrument Processing- ( Case Cart ) to support our busy Operating Room at University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank Campus and Masonic Children's Hospital, located in Minneapolis, MN. For more information on University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank, click here . The West Bank has 15 operating rooms, 1 EP Lab, 1 Cath Lab serving an average of 36 cases per day, 24/7.
Position is responsible for;filling case requisitions for the daily OR schedule which includes linen, soft goods, instrument trays, instruments and products. Reviews and maintains par levels of linen and other items. Works closely with Supply Chain and CSSD/Instrument room to maintain inventory of products, packs, soft goods and instruments. Serves as a liaison between Case Cart and the ORs to ensure all items for every case are completed to provide safe patient care.
Evening 2:45 - 11:45
Weekends as needed
80 hours per two weeks
Duties may include;
Reviews and interprets O.R. surgery schedule on an on-going basis to determine priority of surgical instruments needed.
Ensures instruments are available and ready when needed.
Assembles instruments to the quality triangle of being 100% complete, sterile, and on time.
Responds to emergency requests for supplies and instruments.
Assists in locating site-specific instrumentation.
Maintains OR Sterile Stores and specialty service instrument inventory
Track instruments using automated surgical tracking program
Decontaminates CPC and site specific instrumentation and equipment.
Prepares and uses solutions per manufacturers instruction.
Follows OR written policies and procedures.
Sterilization of OR instrumentation
Serves as a resource to surgeons, nurses and other medical personnel.
Works closely with co-workers and functions as a team.
Communicates between shifts and with supervisors and managers for efficient operation and problem resolution.
Communicates instrument and supply inventory needs.
Cleans work environment, equipment, and puts away instruments.
Follows department and system policies and procedures.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Partners with patient/care-giver in care/decision making.
Communicates in a respectful manner.
Ensures a safe, secure environment.
Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
Provides patient education based on an assessment of learning needs of patient/care-giver.
Graduate of an accredited Central Service/sterile processing, or Surgical Tech Program including training in instrumentprocessing and assembly within the last 3 years, or two years work experience in assembly and sterilization of hospital operating room surgical instruments.
No years of experience required if a graduate in a Central Service or Surgical Tech program. Two years workexperience in assembly and sterilization of hospital operating room surgical instruments if not graduate from a program.
Three to five years experience in sterilization, decontam and processing of surgical instruments.
CRCST certification or ability to obtain in the future
