The Mail Room Clerk is responsible for metering, sorting and distribution of mail.
Performs duties necessary for the delivery of incoming mail.
Sorts incoming mail by department or individual location. All daily incoming first-class mail and previous days interoffice mail to be sorted by department location before delivery on appointed mail rounds.
Communicates with customers to facilitate efficient, accurate delivery of mail.
Sorts physician reports by address location and prepares for mailing within 24 hours of receipt.
Updates database of physician addresses as necessary to ensure the prompt delivery of said reports.
Performs duties necessary for processing outgoing mail.
Sorts, folds, inserts, meters, and posts outgoing mail.
Accurately records postage to originating department for monthly record keeping by supervisor.
Prepares mail in standard-sized postal trays, bins or bags for 4:00 p.m. pick-up by the U.S. Postal Services.
Maintains mailroom equipment and supplies.
Performs necessary maintenance on postal meters and inserting machines.
Arranges for upkeep and repairs.
Notifies supervisor immediately of low meter postage warnings
Acts as the liaison with the Postal Service and other shipping alternatives.
Must have the ability to bend, reach, stand and lift a maximum of 55 pounds. The qualified applicant must have excellent customer service skills with follow through and be able to establish priorities. Applicant must be able to operate the mail processing machine as well as have basic computer skills. Applicant should also be able to learn quickly, follow directions and work independently.
High School Diploma preferred. Minimum of one year customer service position, preferably in a mailroom environment.
