In this position, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the Specialty Pharmacy Program including embedded clinical pharmacist staff, Specialty Pharmacy Concierge personnel and additional assigned personnel. You will ensure that the delivery of value based pharmaceutical care meets the requirements of ChristianaCare and all regulatory bodies to include: The Joint Commission, DE state Board of Pharmacy, CMS, URAC, ACHC and others.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains responsibility for the performance of assigned pharmacy personnel across multiple locations; recognizes and promotes professional competence; assures that services are rendered, and work is performed in accordance with specified standards and CCHS Core Values and Behaviors
Coordinates the staffing of various practice locations
Works with Specialty Pharmacy team to build meaningful dashboards that highlight the success of the program
Maintain committee structure and clinical/administrative documentation to support certification by accrediting bodies (ACHC, URAC, etc.)
Establish the strategic goals and objectives
Coordinate out of state licensure to meet state regulatory requirements for drug distribution
In coordination with our marketing department, update marketing materials that show the value of the ChristianaCare specialty pharmacy program
Demonstrates a Culture of Responsibility (CoR) during event investigation, conversations with personnel and proactive identification/resolution of risky behaviors
Coordinate access to Limited Distribution Drugs (LDDs) to open access for the Specialty Pharmacy Program
Coordinate Call Center activities to ensure that patients have access to a Clinical Pharmacist 24/7 as needed
Works in collaboration with other departments/physician office-based practices to provide safe and effective, value-based pharmacy services
Responsible for the interview, selection, orientation, and counseling, of assigned personnel; recommends disciplinary actions, as appropriate
Delegates tasks and responsibilities to operations supervisor and other employees, as necessary
Monitors and assures proper utilization of resources provided; supervises material use regularly; plans for acquisition and storage of supplies needed to maintain service; monitors equipment at regular intervals to ensure its efficiency and adequacy
Assists with budget preparation; reviews compliance at established intervals
Participates in new program development, renovation, planning, and Pharmacy Service improvements, as appropriate; makes recommendations for improvement of methods and procedures; may develop and maintain policies and procedures for preparing specific products
Consults and advises members of the medical and related staff concerning information on medications, therapeutic evaluations, and drug therapy; provides drug information and information material; meets and/or coordinates with medical and/or nursing personnel to resolve problems relating to Pharmacy service
Coordinates activities with other Pharmacy personnel in a team effort to accomplish pharmacy and hospital objectives
In conjunction with PICs, advises, assists, and supervises the work of pharmacy technicians; assumes final responsibility for accuracy
Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments affecting scope of responsibility; participates in various local, state and national organizations; participates on various hospital committees, as assigned
Education and experience requirements:
Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree required
ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency required
ASHP accredited PGY-2 strongly preferred
At least five years of management, Pharmacist-in-Charge, or community pharmacy practice experience required
Advanced degree (MS, MBA, MHCDS or MHA) preferred
Licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Delaware or eligible for reciprocity
