Fontbonne University has an immediate opening for a Director of Nursing. This is an academic year position with a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (higher rank may be considered with exceptional and relevant experience). This newly created position will be responsible for the development and administration of a BSN program.
The Director will lead and implement curriculum and policy development consistent with schools of nursing standards, requirements of the respective regulatory and accrediting agencies and system-wide quality standards. The Director will possess and demonstrate expertise and commitment to implementation of a standardized curriculum design based on integration of current nursing education knowledge and evidence as well as the predicted competencies required of newly licensed nurses. Curriculum design includes models of implementation and evaluation to support program outcomes that meet or exceed state and national benchmarks. The Director is also accountable for collaborating and sharing best practice in the development of standardized student policies including recruitment, admissions, satisfactory academic progress and counseling services.
Primary responsibilities include:
design of curriculum and of an assessment program to monitor and improve student learning
designing and equipping labs and integrating simulation experiences into the curriculum
successful submission of proposal to the State Board of Nursing to begin a nursing program
ongoing oversight of the nursing program
development of student-centered teaching/learning strategies
seeking and obtaining national accreditation for the program
Required qualifications and skills:
Current, active licensure to practice professional nursing in Missouri; the candidate's license to practice professional nursing has never been disciplined in any jurisdiction
Master's Degree in Nursing with graduate preparation relevant to the administration of nursing education programs
Managerial skills and characteristics of a transformational leader
Knowledgeable in educational programs for health care practitioners, health care trends, health care policy, internal and external resources, current theories in nursing education, management, leadership, nursing practice and nursing research.
Academically and experientially qualified and maintains expertise in area of responsibility
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-direction and professionalism
Preferred qualifications and skills:
Experience in university setting
Experience developing curriculum
Teaching experience in an accredited nursing program and/or experience in clinical nursing education/administration
Doctorate in nursing

This is a ten-month tenure track position; however, summer employment will be required until successful program launch and may be available during future years. Additional compensation paid during summer months during development of program.
